Listen to Me, My beloved…I have upheld you since you were conceived, and have cared for you since the day you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am your God…I am He Who will sustain you. I have made you and I will continue to care for you. I will bear you up; I will deliver you and keep you safe. [Father God…Isa 46:3-4]
Relationship in marriage: Mirror of the Blessed Trinity
God instituted human marriage…to be a mirror of the relationship that characterizes the relationship in the Blessed Trinity. The Lord God said after having created Adam, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and the birds and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. But still there was no helper among them just right for him. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and He brought her to the man. “At last!” the man exclaimed! “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from man!” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. The man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.
Have you never read that He Who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined inseparably to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?” The man Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What, therefore, God has joined together, let not man put asunder. [Matt 19:4-6; Gen 2:23-24]
Mirror of the Almighty
Mankind was created in the image and likeness of God, that we would reflect the Glory of God…some aspect of His nature and character…to the created Universe in their experience of us. Whenever the created Universe comes into contact with me, some characteristic of God is to be revealed to them through me. They are to see in me, as in a mirror, a reflection of God Himself.
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know Me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'”? [John 14:9]
But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him. [2 Cor 3:18]
Mankind: Crown jewels of Creation
Man was made to be in the likeness of God…in the image of God; he was placed upon the Earth and given dominion over every living creature upon the Earth.
Then God said, “Let Us make Man in Our image, in Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the Earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created Man in His Own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the Earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the East, in Eden; and there He put the man He had formed. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. [Gen 1:26-28; 2:8, 15]
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the Earth! You have set Your Glory above the heavens; from the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is Man that You are mindful of him, mere Man, that You care for him? Yet You made him inferior only to Yourself; You crowned him with glory and honor! He will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of his God. You appointed him ruler over everything You made; You placed him over all Creation: sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too; the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas! O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the Earth! [Ps 8; Isa 62:3]
Lord God Almighty…my mouth is filled with Your praise, declaring Your splendor all day long! As for me, I will always have hope; I praise You more and more! My mouth tells of Your righteousness, of Your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure! I come and proclaim Your mighty acts, Sovereign Father! I proclaim Your righteousness, Yours alone! Since my youth You have taught me, Father, and to this day I declare Your marvelous deeds! Even when I am old and gray, Father, You will not forsake me; I shall declare Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come! Your righteousness reaches to the skies, Father…You who have done great things! Who, precious Father, is like You? Though You have made me see troubles, many and bitter, You restore my life over and over again! From the depths of the Earth, You bring me up! You increase my honor and comfort me once again! I praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, Father! I sing praise to You with the lyre, Blessed Holy One of Israel! My lips shout for joy when I sing praise to You…I whom You have redeemed! My tongue will tell of Your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion!
How great are Your signs, Father, how mighty Your wonders! Your Kingdom is an eternal Kingdom! Your dominion endures from generation to generation! All my praise belongs to the Most High God! I honor and glorify You Who lives forever, Father! Your dominion is an eternal dominion; Your Kingdom endures from generation to generation! All the peoples of the Earth are regarded as nothing! You do what You please with the powers of Heaven and the peoples of the Earth! No one can hold back Your hand or say to You, “What have You done?”
Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! Hear, O Earth, the words of my mouth! Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants! I proclaim Your Holy Name, my God and Father! Oh, how I praise the greatness of my God! Hallelujah!
I sing joyfully to You, Father; it is fitting for the upright to praise You! I praise You with the harp! I make music to You on the ten-stringed lyre! I sing to You a new song! I play skillfully and shout for joy! Hallelujah! For Your Word is right and true, Father! You are faithful in all You do! You love righteousness and justice! The Earth is full of Your unfailing love! By Your Word the heavens were made, Father…their starry host by the breath of Your mouth! You gather the waters of the sea into jars; You put the deep into storehouses! Let all the Earth regard You with awe-filled reverence and respect, Father! Let all the people of the world reverence You! For You spoke, and it came to be! You commanded, and it stood firm! You foil the plans of the nations; You thwart the purposes of the peoples! But Your plans stand firm forever, Father! You are my help and my shield! In You my heart rejoices, for I trust in Your Holy Name! Your unfailing love rests upon me even as I put my hope in You, Father!
Friends, brothers and sisters…
There is one absolutely necessary preparation for every living soul on the face of this Earth, for the soon coming and imminent return of Jesus Christ…the one preparation that will irrevocably determine in which neighborhood you will spend all eternity, whether in Heaven or in Hell. You must be a born-again child of God. I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot be in God’s Kingdom. I tell you the truth, no one can ever enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying you must be born again. [Jesus…John 3:3-7]
If you have never been born again,
or you are not sure whether you have been born again,
or you have been living your life as a lukewarm Christian and would now like to recommit your life and enter into a deep and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus in preparation for the soon coming marriage supper of the Lamb…
then I counsel you to get alone with God, read the solemn marriage vows you must make to become the bride of Christ and thereby be born-again, [https://preservechristianfamily.org/2019/01/21/bride-of-christ/], and with sincerity of heart from within the depths of your being, acknowledge before God, “I DO.”
