My beloved child..the power of faith overcomes all adversity. There is an active power of faith that overcomes by securing deliverance from the adversity, in accordance with My will. And there is a passive power of faith that overcomes by patiently enduring the adversity, when deliverance is not My will. [Father God…Heb 11:1-39]
** **, greatly beloved, you have human emotions, and they are a spontaneous reaction to circumstances, events and things that touch your life. It is not wrong to have emotions; they are not even within your ability to control. What is wrong is to remain in your emotions and live your life in them. Your life must not be governed by your emotions; you are to walk by faith, not by your emotions nor by your senses…what you see and hear. To the Lord I [David] cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. [Ps 3:4-6]
Brothers and sisters, spend some time with the Lord, just sitting at His feet. What are the difficulties and trials you are currently going through in your life…either in your own life, or in the lives of those who are near and dear to you? What are the promises that God has made to you in His Word that touch upon your various difficulties and trials? There are literally more than a thousand! You need to purchase a handy Bible Promise Book if you don’t already have one; it will give you Scriptures addressing every type of problem and negative emotion you may be dealing with…or will be dealing with. When you have several applicable Scriptures, spend time before the Lord…just sitting at His feet…and ask Him to enable you, in the power of His enabling grace, to embrace these Scriptures in faith as your own. Stay with Him until you have His peace and comfort…a tranquil and unruffled spirit that comes from casting the whole of your care…all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all…on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. [1 Peter 5:6-7]
When my mother was 94, she experienced being handicapped by old age. She used to be quite active…walking every day, baking, ironing, running errands for elderly people, taking them places or just visiting with them, going on overnight trips, always busy. We went on our last trip four years prior, when she was 90. Now she can no longer do any of these things; just walking in her own home was a chore; she was quite stubborn…will not use a walker or even a cane. The only thing she is capable of doing during the day… everyday, 7 days a week…is jigsaw puzzles, from after breakfast until 5 PM. She can read, but rarely does, and not for long…says it makes her tired. We have a candlelight dinner every night, and then she looks forward to watching a movie while I just spend time with the Lord reading, studying and writing. That’s it…that is all she has in life.
Even though she is so limited and so handicapped, her attitude and spirit day after day is amazingly positive. One day, upon awakening and before getting out of bed, she said [enthusiastically], “There’s nothing [physically] wrong with me; I feel good! I know I am old, but I feel good!” These are not isolated comments; she oftentimes made similar positive comments. Several months prior, just as we were beginning our candlelight dinner, she said, with a shining countenance, “I am thoroughly enjoying life!”
How can she have such a positive attitude, such high spirits? Well… between Christmas and New Year’s Day that year, the Spirit of God prompted me, “Go out and buy a Nativity set for your mother.” I responded, “OK, Lord…I will do that.” That day I purchased a nice set, complete with stable, and set it up for her on a small side table next to the TV, always in view from her recliner where she sits during the day and evening. That Nativity set has proven to be an almost incomprehensible blessing to her! It continually reminds her of the Presence of Jesus. Oftentimes during the day, she will gaze upon it and say things like, “If it weren’t for baby Jesus [she refers to Him as ‘Baby Jesus’ as she looks upon the manger], I could never get through the day. He is there to help me in my old age; you can’t see Him, but He is always here with me. I couldn’t make it through the day without Him.”
The point of this testimony is to illustrate how the Spirit of God had enabled my mother to literally embrace the truth, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” In her old age, she has acquired that simple child-like faith…a child-like trust in Jesus, and a child-like dependence upon Jesus…that a great majority of Christians never attain. My deepest prayer for you is that the Holy Spirit will indeed work in you such a child-like faith; He will if you long for it, cooperate with His enabling grace, and respond to His every leading and prompting with an unquestioning child-like obedience.
Friends, brothers and sisters…
There is one absolutely necessary preparation for every living soul on the face of this Earth, for the soon coming and imminent return of Jesus Christ…the one preparation that will irrevocably determine in which neighborhood you will spend all eternity, whether in Heaven or in Hell. You must be a born-again child of God. I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot be in God’s Kingdom. I tell you the truth, no one can ever enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying you must be born again. [Jesus…John 3:3-7]
If you have never been born again,
or you are not sure whether you have been born again,
or you have been living your life as a lukewarm Christian and would now like to recommit your life and enter into a deep and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus in preparation for the soon coming marriage supper of the Lamb…
then I counsel you to get alone with God, read the solemn marriage vows you must make to become the bride of Christ and thereby be born-again, [https://preservechristianfamily.org/2019/01/21/bride-of-christ/], and with sincerity of heart from within the depths of your being, acknowledge before God, “I DO.”
