Blessed Jesus…I am persuaded, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that neither death, nor life; nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers; nor things present, nor things to come; nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all Creation, shall ever be able to separate me from the Love of God my Father, which flows unceasingly through You, Precious Lord… my Redeemer and my King! [Rom 8:38]
7th ABRAHAM: THE TRUST OF FAITH UNTO DEATH. With Sarah, we saw the trust of faith unto life. The result of her faith was the son of promise…Isaac. With Abraham, we see the far deeper trust of faith unto death. The result of his faith was receiving the son of promise back from the dead.
Christ our Leader and Forerunner
If I did but hear the call of God to bring the life He Himself has given me and yield it up unto death, how I would learn to know Him in His mighty quickening power! It is the soul that seeks to follow my Lord in this new and living way that shall find its blessedness in being nothing and allowing God to be my life…and so shall I see the glory of God! I have been crucified with Christ…nevertheless, I live. Yet it is no longer I who live, but rather Christ Jesus living my life in me. And this life, which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me. [Gal 2:20]
A grain of wheat
I am telling you the truth: a grain of wheat remains no more than a single grain unless it is dropped into the ground and dies. If it does die, then it produces many grains. Those who love their life in this world, serving only themselves and their own interests, will lose it; those who place no value on their own self-life in this world willingly exchange it for an eternal life in glory. Whoever has no love for, no concern for, no regard for his life here on Earth, but despises it, preserves his life forever and ever. If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow me and cleave steadfastly to Me, conforming wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying…and wherever I am, there will My servant also be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. [John 12:24-26] Then Jesus said to them all: “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life for himself and his own interests will lose it, but whoever loses his self-life for My sake will save it. Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.” Whoever wants to serve Me must follow Me, so that My servant will be with Me where I am. And My Father will honor anyone who serves Me. [Luke 9:23-24, 14:27; John 12:24-26]
A seed must be planted to bring forth fruit
Jesus used the image of a seed to illustrate the great spiritual truth that there can be no glory without suffering, no fruitful life without death, no victory without surrender. Of itself, a seed is weak and useless; but when it is planted, it “dies” and becomes fruitful.
God’s children are like seeds. They are small and insignificant, but they have life in them…God’s life. However, that life can never be fulfilled unless I yield myself to God and permit Him to “plant me.” I must die to self so that I may live unto God [Rom 6; Gal 2:20]. The only way to have a fruitful life is to follow Jesus Christ in death, burial, and resurrection.
In these words, Jesus challenges me today to surrender my life to Him. Note the contrasts: loneliness or fruitfulness; losing your life or keeping your life; serving self or serving Christ; pleasing self or receiving God’s honor. Comfortable or conformable: that is the question. If I am looking for a comfortable life, then I will protect my plans and desires, save my life for myself, and never be planted. But if I yield my life and let God plant me, I will never be alone but will have the joy of being fruitful to the glory of God. “If any man [Jew or Greek] serve Me, let him follow Me.”
Friends, brothers and sisters…
There is one absolutely necessary preparation for every living soul on the face of this Earth, for the soon coming and imminent return of Jesus Christ…the one preparation that will irrevocably determine in which neighborhood you will spend all eternity, whether in Heaven or in Hell. You must be a born-again child of God. I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot be in God’s Kingdom. I tell you the truth, no one can ever enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying you must be born again. [Jesus…John 3:3-7]
If you have never been born again,
or you are not sure whether you have been born again,
or you have been living your life as a lukewarm Christian and would now like to recommit your life and enter into a deep and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus in preparation for the soon coming marriage supper of the Lamb…
then I counsel you to get alone with God, read the solemn marriage vows you must make to become the bride of Christ and thereby be born-again, [https://preservechristianfamily.org/2019/01/21/bride-of-christ/], and with sincerity of heart from within the depths of your being, acknowledge before God, “I DO.”
All that you need:
