January 25

Beloved…be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.  Be alertly waiting for your master’s return from the wedding feast, so you may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.  Blessed are those whom the master finds ready when he comes.  You also, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect! [Jesus…Luke 12:35-37, 40]

7th ABRAHAM: THE TRUST OF FAITH UNTO DEATH.  With Sarah, we saw the trust of faith unto life.  The result of her faith was the son of promise…Isaac.  With Abraham, we see the far deeper trust of faith unto death.  The result of his faith was receiving the son of promise back from the dead.

Abandon the power of the flesh; embrace the Power of the Spirit

I need to learn what is implied in the death to self and acknowledge my own entire and complete inability…hopelessly powerless, hopelessly impotent, hopelessly helpless…to do anything good, or pleasing, or acceptable to God in the power of the flesh.  I need to cease from my own works, and give the Holy Spirit free reign to work in me both to will and to do.  I must be willing to be and to do nothing of my own accord, and let the Holy Spirit within me BE ALL and to DO ALL through me, with me and in me.  There must be such a hating of my own life, such a denial of self, that I am content with nothing less than death to it.

Spirit of the Living God…I wait before You, in absolute surrender of any reliance upon the power of my flesh…the power of my human capabilities and capacities, my own efforts and my own strength, my own wisdom and knowledge and understanding… and I acknowledge to You that these powers of my flesh are of no use to me in my life with God.  I trust in You with an unwavering child-like trust, and I depend upon You with an unreserved child-like dependence, to rise up within me, sweep over my soul, and lead me into the Heavenly realms, through the rent veil of my flesh and into the Heavenly Sanctuary, to the Throne of Grace and into the Presence of God.

Abba Father…Not my will, but Thy will be done.  Nothing that I do or say in the way of my expression of worshiping You is good or pleasing or acceptable to You if, first of all, before everything else and above everything else, “not my will, but Thy will be done” is not the supreme characterization of my life…in everything.  Nothing that I am engaged in doing is good or pleasing or acceptable to You if it did not originate from the leading of Your Holy Spirit.

If it did not originate from the leading of Your Holy Spirit, then its origin is my human spirit, and is therefore an expression of “my will be done.”  I am then holding on to my self-life and my self-interests…things that are pleasing to me.  Your Divine Son Jesus, Father, emphatically said, “I only do what My Father shows me to do; I only speak the words My Father gives me to speak.”  In His discourse with the Jewish authorities, Jesus said, “I have much to say about you, much to judge and condemn you for.  The One Who sent Me, however, is truthful, and I tell the world only what I have heard from Him.” [John 8:26]

Obedience is what characterizes the life of Your child…obedience continually and unceasingly day and night.  Obedience was the point of Adam’s failure; obedience was the point of Christ Jesus Your Son’s perfection.  His perfect obedience in the character of His human nature…even unto death…was absolutely necessary in order to qualify Him as the Redeemer of Mankind.  In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for Whom and through Whom everything exists, should make the Author of our salvation perfect through suffering. [Heb 2:10]  Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him. [Heb 5:8-10].  And having taken upon Himself a human nature, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death…even death on a cross! [Phil 2:8]  And to this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps. [1 Peter 2:20-21]

I am called to a life of obedience…and obedience originates with the leading of Your indwelling Holy Spirit.  Because you are My child, I have given you the Spirit of My Son to dwell in your heart, and He continually cries out, “Abba, Father!”  All who are indeed My children are continually led by My indwelling Holy Spirit!  Obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit always brings the blessings of God.  And obedience must be characterized by faithfulness in order to be good and pleasing and acceptable to God. Faithfulness is nothing more than obeying what the Holy Spirit has given me to do wholeheartedly, with intensity, and to completion.  Obedience and faithfulness go hand in hand.  Only when obedience is carried out with faithfulness will my Father commend me, “Well done, good [obedient] and faithful servant! [Matt 25:21]

I am called to be obedient and faithful to every leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit. Even so…it is His work and not mine. It is not my work to do…I am called to participate together with Him in His work, in the ways He shows me…not in the ways I think I should do so.  And the results belong to Him, not to me.  I am not to look for results in the object of the work I am given to do.   If I do that, I will be drawn into living a results oriented life rather than a Spirit-led life, adjusting what I do according to what results I see.  No…the results I am to look for are in the subject of the work I am given…me.  The results I am to look for in me is faithfulness…doing the work wholeheartedly, with intensity, and to completion.  Those are the results I am responsible for.

Abba Father…Your children are continually being led by Your indwelling Holy Spirit.  And You have so lovingly assured me, Your child, that I needn’t be like a cowering, fearful slave in Your Presence.  Your Holy Spirit, God’s eternal gift, doesn’t make cowards out of us.  He endues me with power and love and a sound mind…that I should freely abide with You as Your very Own child, adopted by birth into the bosom of Your Family, crying out unashamedly without reservation to You, “Abba, Father!”  For Your Holy Spirit speaks to me deep in my heart, reassuring me that indeed I really am Your child! [Rom 8:14-17; 2 Tim 1:7]

Friends, brothers and sisters…

There is one absolutely necessary preparation for every living soul on the face of this Earth, for the soon coming and imminent return of Jesus Christ…the one preparation that will irrevocably determine in which neighborhood you will spend all eternity, whether in Heaven or in Hell.  You must be a born-again child of God.  I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot be in God’s Kingdom.  I tell you the truth, no one can ever enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of water and the Spirit.  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.  You should not be surprised at My saying you must be born again. [Jesus…John 3:3-7]

If you have never been born again,
or you are not sure whether you have been born again,
or you have been living your life as a lukewarm Christian and would now like to recommit your life and enter into a deep and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus in preparation for the soon coming marriage supper of the Lamb…
then I counsel you to get alone with God, read the solemn marriage vows you must make to become the bride of Christ and thereby be born-again, [https://preservechristianfamily.org/2019/01/21/bride-of-christ/], and with sincerity of heart from within the depths of your being, acknowledge before God, “I DO.”

On Christ the solid rock I stand:
