WHY DO I EXIST? Because there is an Eternal God Who exists.
The framework for understanding our existence begins with fully embracing in my heart why the Eternal God of the universe Personally formed me in my mother’s womb.
God’s framework in creating Mankind:
- Eternal Reason: I have loved you with an everlasting Love.
- Eternal Purpose: I made you for Myself.
- Eternal Plan: I know the plans I have for you.
- Eternal Promise: I have prepared a promised rest for My children.
- Eternal Provision: The Gift of My Son; The Gift of My Holy Spirit.
God’s Reason for Creating: LOVE
God’s reason for creating the Universe, and all that is in it, was Divine Love. God is Love. Love is His very nature; Love is His very essence; Love is the very core of His Being…and He loves because of Who He is. God had no need to create…anything. From Eternity Past He was always perfect and complete, and in need of nothing. He consciously and deliberately chose to create, because Love always desires to pour all of its Blessedness, all of its Goodness, into the beloved. And so God brought into existence all of the objects of His Love…all of Creation…so as to manifest His Love to them, with them, and in them. Everything that was brought into existence is in its very nature an expression, and a reflection, of His infinite Love. God made the heavens…even the highest heavens and all their starry host…the Earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them, the spirit world and all that is in it. He gives life to everything, and the multitudes of Heaven worship Him! For by Him all things were created: things in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible, animate and inanimate…whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities…all things were created by Him and for Him and for His Glory.
God’s motive in Creation has been ascribed by doctrinal writers to be the free operation of God’s Love…His “bonitas communicativa.” He was not affected by any compulsion or selfish desire. In the essence and volition of Divine Love, all the much-discussed antagonism between freedom and necessity is canceled. The necessity in which God created the Universe is the definitiveness of His Own will, His self-determination which He possesses by virtue of His Own Divine character. It is not an external compulsion, but an interior impulse of the Divine nature to manifest itself; a necessity of God’s Love to communicate itself. The Creation which He brought into being was the only one to which He was moved by the deep inner Love of His infinite Divine character. The aim which God had in view was not His Own Glory exclusively. He was not impelled by a purely egotistical power, but by Eternal Love. He desired the good of His creatures, and it was only as He wished His Creation to be pure that He desired to be glorified by that purity. All created beings are not solely means for an end, but they have been created for their own sake, that they might receive the communications of God and be permeated by His Goodness…not that they might subsequently be absorbed in Him, but rest eternally happy in and with Him. In the beginning, when God purposed to create the Universe, the Earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Power of God was moving over the water. When He had completed His Creation, God looked at everything He had made, and He was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came…that was the sixth day, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the Earth, the sea, and all that is in them. And so the whole Universe was completed. By the seventh day God finished what He had been doing and stopped working. He blessed the seventh day and set it apart as a special day, because by that day He had completed His Creation and stopped working. And that is how the Universe was created. [Gen 1:1-2, 31; 2:4; Ex 20:11a]
The heavens proclaim the Glory of God! The skies continually display the work of His hands; from the very beginning the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy! Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the Earth, and their words to all the world! [Ps 19:1-4; Job 37:7]
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever! Give thanks to the God of gods; His love endures forever! Give thanks to the Lord of lords; His love endures forever! To Him Who alone does great wonders; His love endures forever! Who by His understanding made the heavens; His love endures forever! Who spread out the Earth upon the waters; His love endures forever! Who made the great lights; His love endures forever! The sun to govern the day; His love endures forever! The moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever! Who gives food to every creature; His love endures forever! Give thanks to the God of Heaven; His love endures forever! The eyes of all look to You, Lord, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing! Hallelujah! [Ps 136:1-9, 25-26; 145:15-16]
Eternal Promise: I have prepared a promised rest for My children
Beloved child…do you believe this? Are you living in God’s promised rest? The proof that you do believe and are abiding there…is your everyday experience of resting in Him with an unruffled child-like rest and abiding with Him with an unclouded child-like carefree joy. No matter what storms of life may be raging…a fierce tempest, whipping the waves into a tumultuous, churning, turmoil…beneath the surface, in the depths of God, all is peaceful and calm, all is tranquil and unruffled. In the shadow of the Almighty, you will find an unruffled child-like rest for your soul. This is the only way of entrance into the promised rest I have prepared for My children: you have set your heart to trust in Me with an unwavering trust; you have set your heart to depend upon Me with an unreserved child-like dependence; you have set your heart to obey My will, and to accept My will, with an unquestioning child-like obedience.
** **, greatly beloved, faith is not belief only; faith is a verb…an action word. Faith is the living out of your life in a manner that bears witness to the truth of what you say you believe. What you believe in your mind is not faith until you have acted in reliance upon that belief.
Don’t you fully understand yet? “Faith” is not genuine faith until it withstands the furnace of affliction…until it endures the fire. A “faith” that has not been tested is a faith that cannot be trusted. These testings have come in order that the genuiness of your faith, which faith is examined by testing for the purpose of being proven genuine…that approval being much more precious than the fire-testing of gold to prove its genuiness and which, even so, perishes…may be found, after scrutiny, to result in praise and glory and honor at the time of the revelation of Jesus Christ. [1 Peter 1:7-8]
What good is it, My child, if a person claims to have faith but has no good works to show for it? Can such faith save his soul? Faith by itself, in the form of a stated belief but not accompanied by actions that bear witness to that stated belief, is destitute of power and dead. Someone may well say, “You claim you have faith, and I have good works. Now prove to me your actual possession of the faith you claim to possess apart from any accompanying good works, and I by my actions that bear witness to my stated belief will prove to you my actual possession of faith. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that…and shudder! For just as the body apart from the breath of life is dead, so also faith in the form of a stated belief but not accompanied by deeds and actions of obedience to back it up, is destitute of power and dead. [James 2:14, 17-19, 26]
Are you willing to be shown proof, you foolish, spiritually deficient fellow, that faith apart from good works is inactive, ineffective and worthless? Was not our forefather Abraham shown to be justified and made acceptable to God by his works when he brought to the altar as an offering his own son Isaac? You see that his faith was cooperating with his works, and his faith was completed and reached its supreme expression when he implemented it by good works. And so the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed, trusted in, and relied upon God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend. You see that a man is justified…pronounced righteous before God…through what he does bearing witness to a stated belief and not alone through “faith” merely in the form of a stated belief. So also with Rahab the harlot… was she not shown to be justified…pronounced righteous before God…by good deeds when she took in the spies and sent them away by a different route? [James 2:20-25]
FAITH THAT BEARS WITNESS
The proof of faith is in living your life in accordance with, or in agreement with, what you say you believe. There are many hundreds of verses in the Bible where God promises His sufficiency to meet every need we may encounter during our lifetime. It is faith alone that embraces these promises, and makes them ours. It is faith alone that enables us to live a tranquil, unruffled life, always living in the Presence of the Lord. “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet will I rejoice in the Lord…I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like hinds feet; He gives me strength and courage, enabling me to walk upon my high places…places of trouble and suffering and responsibility.” [Hab 3:17-19]
Do you believe what the Lord has said:
Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.” [Josh 1:9] Do you believe what the Lord has said…“I am with you wherever you go?” Then why are you afraid? Why are you discouraged? You need to put aside fear and discouragement, become determined and confident, and live your life in accordance with what you say you believe. That is the measure of your faith.
For I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep and to guard that which I have entrusted unto Him against that day. [2 Tim 1:12] Do you believe this? Have you entrusted the people and the things that are important to you into His hands? Then why are you fearful of suffering loss? Is He not both willing and able to keep and to guard all that you have entrusted unto Him?
He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord! [Isa 26:3] Do you believe that the Lord will keep you in perfect peace? Then why don’t you have peace of mind? Why are you so troubled and upset? You need to trust in Him, and turn your thoughts often… not just sometimes…to Him.
But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. [Phil 4:19-20] Do you believe that God will supply all your need? Then why are your finances always a worry? Why do you worry about how you will be able to acquire the necessities of life?
So then, those who suffer because it is God’s will for them, should by their good actions trust themselves completely to their Creator, Who always keeps His promise. [1 Peter 4:19] Do you believe that God, Who created us, always keeps His promises? Then why do your physical infirmities leave you depressed? Why do you feel that God doesn’t hear your prayers, or that He has abandoned you? Perhaps you are suffering because it is God’s will for you…you need to trust His plans, purposes and will for you, and that He is making these things work together for your good. You may not understand… oftentimes we don’t…but you can trust.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. You will keep on guiding me all my life, Lord, with Your wisdom and counsel, and afterwards receive me into the glories of Heaven! [Ps 32:8; Ps 73:24] Do you believe that God will faithfully instruct and teach and guide you all the days of your life as He promised He would? Then why don’t you turn to Him and inquire of Him concerning where to go or what to do? Why do you keep on trying to figure things out according to your own wisdom, knowledge and understanding?
It is a time to celebrate with a hearty meal and to send presents to those in need, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. You must not be dejected and sad!” [Neh 8:10] Do you believe that the joy of the Lord is your strength? Then why don’t you just spend time with the Lord, just sitting at His feet? Why do you remain unhappy, dejected and sad? Why aren’t you filled with joy in the Lord, regardless of your current circumstances? Take time to celebrate the Lord’s goodness with a hearty meal, and send presents to those in need!
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting. [James 1:5-6] Do you believe that God will give wisdom to all who ask in faith? Then why do you continue trying to solve your difficulties through your human capabilities and capacities, by your own efforts and in your own strength, according to your own wisdom, knowledge and understanding? Why haven’t you turned to the Lord and asked Him to lead and guide you by His Spirit? The Lord promised to give generously and without reproach to all who ask in faith.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. [Isa 40:31] Do you believe that God will renew your strength as you wait upon Him? Are you weary, heavy laden, and losing heart? Why, then, have you not sat before the Lord and waited upon Him; He promised to renew your strength, didn’t He?
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us…they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady. [Rom 5:3-4] Do you believe that problems and trials are good for us, helping us to develop patience, character, and a deeper trust in God? Then why haven’t you put aside your impatience and inquired of God as to what He would have you learn through your difficulties? Why haven’t you learned to rejoice in your problems and trials, knowing that God is going to make those things work together for your good…that there is a blessing God has for you that can only be attained by going through the particular difficulty He has allowed to touch your life?
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. What a wonderful God we have…He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the One Who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. [Ps 34:18,
Ps 147:3; 2 Cor 1:3] Do you believe that God both comforts and strengthens us as we go through the difficulties of life? Then why do you dwell in your sorrows and refuse to be comforted? Why do you grow weary and lose heart?
Don’t worry about things…food, drink, and clothes. For you already have life and a body… and they are far more important than what to eat and wear. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t He more surely care for you, O men of little faith? So don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your Heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and He will give them to you if you give Him first place in your life and live as He wants you to. So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time. [Matt 6:25, 30-34] Do you believe what God has so clearly said here? Then why do you worry about having sufficient finances to purchase necessary food and clothing? Why are you anxious today about tomorrow’s problem’s and difficulties? Does not our Father know perfectly well what we need? Will He not provide all that we need? Will He not take care of tomorrow’s problems as well?
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. [1 Cor 10:13] Actually, the Greek word used here does not mean just temptations to sin, but includes every kind of testings and trials. A more accurate translation is as follows: Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out. [1 Cor 10:13] Do you believe that God is the Sovereign All-Ruler over all things, and that He will not allow you to be tested beyond your ability to deal with it? Then why do you feel so overwhelmed and depressed by the difficulties and pressures in your life? Why wouldn’t you look to God to give you the strength to endure it as He has promised?
Do not be afraid…I will save you. I have called you by name…you are Mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, the God Who saves you. [Isa 43:1-3] Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. [Heb 10:23] Do you believe the incredible assurances God has given you in these two Scriptures, and have you embraced them as your own? Then why are you despairing and giving up hope in your troubles and hard trials, and why are you so depressed? Why do you think God has abandoned you, and does not hear your prayers? Is He not the God Who saves you?
Jesus and His disciples were in their boat, heading across to the other side of the lake. Suddenly, a strong wind blew up, and the waves began to spill over into the boat, so that it was about to fill with water. Jesus was in the back of the boat, sleeping with His head on a pillow. The disciples woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are about to die?” Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” And He said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Why are you frightened? Do you still have no faith?” [Mark 4:35-40] Would our Lord admonish you in this same way for the way you have reacted, and are even now reacting, to the storms He has allowed to touch your life?
Jesus says to each one of us, “Do you still believe that I love you unconditionally? That you are being led by My Holy Spirit? That I bottle every tear you shed? Do you still believe all things work together for good to them that love Me? That I hear your prayers, even when you have no audible voice to express them? Even when all seems dark and you are overwhelmed? Even when fear lays hold of your mind and soul? Even when it seems I have shut the heavens to you? Do you still believe…even when death comes to your loved ones? Do you still believe that I give comfort and strength to face even the grave? Do you still believe you are in the palm of My hand…that you are the apple of my eye? That eternal life is your future…that there is no power that can pluck you out of My hand? That I am still touched by every infirmity and affliction you endure? Do you still believe these things are true?” [David Wilkerson]
Friends, brothers and sisters…
There is one absolutely necessary preparation for every living soul on the face of this Earth, for the soon coming and imminent return of Jesus Christ…the one preparation that will irrevocably determine in which neighborhood you will spend all eternity, whether in Heaven or in Hell. You must be a born-again child of God. I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot be in God’s Kingdom. I tell you the truth, no one can ever enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying you must be born again. [Jesus…John 3:3-7]
If you have never been born again,
or you are not sure whether you have been born again,
or you have been living your life as a lukewarm Christian and would now like to recommit your life and enter into a deep and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus in preparation for the soon coming marriage supper of the Lamb…
then I counsel you to get alone with God, read the solemn marriage vows you must make to become the bride of Christ and thereby be born-again, [https://preservechristianfamily.org/2019/01/21/bride-of-christ/], and with sincerity of heart from within the depths of your being, acknowledge before God, “I DO.”
